Police Memorial House Museum
The Izmir Police Memorial House, which was originally used as the Anafartalar Police Station, now serves as a museum that showcases various archival photographs, documents, and clothes from the police organization’s history.
The museum, which was transformed in 2005 with the help of former Chief of Police Halil Tataş, is located in a historical building that was constructed in 1913 and served as a financial center until 1954. The museum houses a Koran and a Bible, which were used in the past to prevent Muslims and non-Muslims from giving false testimony, as well as criminal record books written in Ottoman Turkish.
Visitors can also see various weapons, radios, typewriters, and clothes used by the police on duty, as well as photographs and documents. The detention center within the museum has been preserved exactly as it was.
The Police Memorial House, which is closed on weekends and open to local and foreign tourists between 08.00-17.00, underwent restoration and now has organized exhibition rooms. It is possible to make donations to the museum, which was established with the donations of police officers and their relatives.
