Seafood is a regional favorite. The towns’ coastal locations provide fresh seafood and shellfish. Grilled octopus, sea bass, and sea bream with lemon and olive oil are available to visitors. The meze platter, a collection of mini delicacies such tarama (fish roe dip), dolma (stuffed grape leaves), and acılı ezme, is another local delicacy (spicy tomato and pepper dip). These are usually served with warm bread with rakı, an anise-flavored alcohol.

Another must-try in Çeşme and Alaçatı is Turkish breakfast. Breakfast in most hotels and restaurants comprises feta cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, honey, jam, and bread. Breakfast can also contain sucuk (spicy sausage), pastırma (cured meat), and fried eggs.

Alaçatı and Çeşme have abundance of drinks. The Karasakız grape variety’s red wines are famed in the region. Raki, a grape-and-aniseed alcohol, can also be sampled. It goes well with meze plates and is a local favorite.

In Çeşme and Alaçatı, ayran, a yogurt drink, is popular. It’s prepared by mixing yogurt, water, and salt. If your lunch is spicy, this drink is perfect.
